Industrial action by the public sector unions, in response to the proposed changes to public sector pensions, is taking place in workplaces and schools across the country on Wednesday 30 November.
Adequate staffing levels are essential in order to maintain an orderly, safe and productive environment in school. The duty of care for students’ safety and wellbeing is a paramount consideration, when determining whether the school can remain open. The ATL and NUT teaching unions which took action in June, will be joined by members of the NASUWT, NAHT, GMB and Unison. The scale of anticipated staff absence is such that it will be necessary, on health and safety grounds, to operate with a partial closure of the school to students, on this date.
On Wednesday 30 November the school will be closed to students in Years 8-11.
School will be open to Year 7. Year 7 students should report to the Hall.
Students in the ‘Oliver’ production (actors only in Years 7 – 13) will be able to rehearse throughout the school day.
Where teachers are available to teach their Sixth Form timetabled lessons, students will be informed by letter of the classes which will run as normal on 30 November.
A canteen service will be available as normal during Activity Time.
Should there be a change to the anticipated industrial action planned for 30 November, parents and students will be informed via Schoolcomms and the school website.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
