Oliver!
Last week saw the return of our much loved whole school production. The Drama Department chose to perform Oliver! The Musical and entertain audiences with this much loved tale. This truly was a whole school production in every sense of the word. Not only did students from every year take to the stage but they were accompanied by our wonderful School Band, directed Mrs Robertson and conducted by student, Edward Tyler. The production was supported by student stage hands and by a student tech team. Costumes and handkerchiefs were ably made by our textiles students and the art department supported on securing and creating the back drops and props that set this Dickensian Scene. The school would also like to thank to Camp Hobson Funeral Directors, Didcot Girls School and National Animal Welfare Trust for their additional support with props and costumes.
In order to offer as much opportunity to our students as possible, the drama department chose to run and rehearse with two casts. The ‘Twist Cast’ took centre stage for the Friday Matinee, especially performed for Year 6s from John Rankin Junior School, Falkland Primary and St Nicolas Junior School, as well as the Monday evening performance, whilst the ‘Oliver Cast’ took centre stage for the Tuesday and Wednesday evening performances. The school hall was sold out for all performances and feedback form the audiences was wonderful.
Mrs Parkington, Drama Teacher and Director, said: “I feel hugely proud of all the students who have thrown so much energy and enthusiasm into this production. It has been a real joy to direct them.â€
Congratulations to all the students involved. Thank you also to Mrs Parkington (Director), Mrs Howe (Producer) and Mrs Hoult (Choreographer) for their commitment to offering our students this wonderful opportunity and for supporting them in delivering a fantastic show.
