On 12 and 13 May, six Year 10 students successfully completed the 35 mile Ten Tors challenge on Dartmoor. Having come through a competitive selection process to make the team in a very strong year group the team performed outstandingly.
After a thorough kit check and route planning on Friday, they started the challenge at 7am on Saturday morning. The group set a fast pace all day Saturday, working effectively as a team to help each other on the long climbs with full packs, to reach camp at Tor 7 of their route at 6.30 in the evening. The conditions were perfect for walking, with the only rain coming once they were safely in their tents.
After a short night’s sleep they were up and ready to walk again by 6am on Sunday. Keeping up their outstanding pace they completed the challenge at 12:20, one of the earliest ever finish times for a St Bart’s team. The group experienced 2 days they will never forget and should be very proud of their achievement.
