Congratulations to all our athletes for all their efforts at recent competitions. Notable results include the U15 and U17 boys who both came overall 1st and the U15 and U17 girls who came overall 3rd and 2nd respectively at the Area Athletics Competition at Palmer Park.
Schools Cup Athletics Competition
Congratulations to all girls who took part in the Schools Cup Athletics Competition on Tuesday 16th May at Palmer Park There were some great results from both age groups.
Inter Girls
Superb team result finishing 3rd out of 18 schools with a points total of 364 points – narrowly missing out on 2nd place to St Marys Ascot who scored 365 points. Some outstanding performances were Anna Delavere in both 200m and triple jump scoring a fabulous total of 43 points, Bethany Maclean in the 800m and Javelin scoring an impressive total of 37 points, Katya Burgess 1500m and high jump scoring a total of 38 points. Very well done to all athletes who contributed to such a great team score. Fingers crossed we make a Regional Final!
Junior Girls
A great team effort from the Junior girls who, despite losing two of their team members on the morning of the event due to illness, adapted and supported each other to ensure we were able to fill all required events – a huge thank you to you all for your enormous support!
Despite finishing in 13th position, the team scored a good points total of 257 points and there were some outstanding performances. Jessie Archibald scored 20 point in her 200m, Hazel Cook scored an impressive total of 32 points from both her 200m and Discus, Mariella Frood 20 points from her 800m, Anna Hall a total of 30 points from her 1500m and Javelin. Very well done to you all.
Area Athletics Competition
Congratulations to the students who took part in the Area Athletics Competition at Palmer Park on Friday 12th May.
U15 and U17 Boys
The U15 (Year 8 and 9) and U17 (Year 10) boys both came 1st overall out of 13 schools. Some notable performances included, for U17 Boys, James Fenner, javelin – 1st (new District Record 43.03m), Jack Collings 800m – 1st, Jacob Glendenning 1500m – 1st, Jacob Avery, high hump – 3rd, Alex Hutchinson, triple jump – 3rd and Ellis Farrisn discus – 3rd.
For U15 Boys, Kenechi Akosa, discus – 1st (new District Record 25.85m) and 200m 1st (new District Record 24.1 secs), Connor Goulding, javelin – 1st, Harry Fenner, javelin – 2nd, Joe Hill, 300m – 2nd, Henry Wilson, 800m – 2nd and Deivis Bodeci, hurdles – 3rd.
U15 and U17 Girls
Congratulations to the U15 and U17 girls’ athletics team who finished 3rd place and 2nd place respectively – an excellent result! Both teams performed superbly. Outstanding individual performances were:
For U15, Beth Maclean who achieved 1st place in both her 800m and javelin – a superb achievement. Isla Clare, 1st – 1500m, Annabelle Franklin-Wilson, 3rd – triple jump, Jessie Archibald, 3rd – 200m and Ffion Pritchard- 3rd – 1500m.
For U17 Girls, Mya Cahoon, 2nd – long jump and 4th – 100M, Anna Delavere, 2nd – triple jump and 3rd – 200m, Katya Burgess, 2nd – 1500m, Bethany Howell, 3rd – triple jump and 3rd – 300m, Eleanor Barlow, 4th – hurdles and Georgia Knight, 4th – 1500m

ESAA Track and Field Cup
A big well done to our boys’ athletics teams who competed in the Berkshire round of the ESAA Track and Field Cup, which is a team competition. Both teams put in some really strong performances, with the U13 boys finishing 2nd overall and the intermediate boys finishing 5th overall. We are now waiting to find out which teams have made it through to the Regional South West Finals.
