Brown’s Meadow – Building For Future Athletes

We are appealing for donations towards building a new sports’ pavilion at Brown’s Meadow which will ensure that development of future young athletes and sports players can be championed more effectively for generations to come.

Donations made through The Good Exchange will be match funded by Greenham Trust. (Click here)

The site has a special place in the hearts of many St Bart’s students, past and present. “My best memories of St. Bart’s are the long summer afternoons spent at Brown’s Meadow doing Athletics,” said Millie Guille, student from 2005-2013. The site is used for Lacrosse training and matches during the winter season.

St Bart’s and Newbury Athletic Club share the use of Brown’s Meadow and the Arthur Killberry Pavilion, a former World War II wooden accommodation block, bought at auction and reassembled on the site in 1973. The school and the club agree that the pavilion is no longer fit for purpose and a new building is required.

Plans have been approved for the construction of a modern pavilion boasting improved facilities that include changing and shower rooms for up to 40 students and staff, a large hall, kitchenette and a spectator viewing deck.

To date over £250,000 has been raised towards the project, secured through grants and donations from various individuals and organisations including Sport England, Greenham Trust, Newbury Town Council, Englefield Charitable Trust and Newbury Athletic Club. We are at 78% of our target fundraising and to enable us to complete the project we need to raise a further £36,000, which will be match funded by Greenham Trust. We will be grateful for any donations so that this project can be quickly realised. Thank you.
