Business Studies Students Visit Bmw

Published 25 May 2023

On Friday May 19 A Level Business Studies students visited the BMW plant in Oxford.

Students started their trip with a visit to the exhibition centre which covers the history of the BMW mini brand, along with detail about operations and marketing at the business.

Students then had a tour of the manufacturing facility, starting with the production and welding of the frame and chassis. This was followed by the post paint phase where the cars are assembled with engines, wheels etc added. Finally, students were able to see the finished cars being driven off the production line. Students were able to see different aspects of operations, such as the use of robots in production, cell production methods and Just-in-Time inventory management.

Operations management is a key part of the A level specification and the visit is an excellent opportunity for students to experience this in the real world. We will take a second group of students to BMW on 16 June.
