Davis House Update
The new term went off with a bang as Dr Fitter announced us as House Championship winners for a second year in a row! This was a remarkable achievement and just showed that every contribution to the house, however big or small, can add up to big results. Congratulations to all of our Davis students! This year, we continue with Miss Suggitt as Head of House, who joined us at the end of the Summer Term. Mr Fry as Progress and Achievement Leader and Ms Moore as House Manager. Ms Fryer also joins us in the office every Friday.
We are having a big focus on raising money for our House Charity this year, Swings and Smiles, a play facility in Thatcham for disabled children and their families. We have set Davis students an ambitious target of ‘£4,000 for 2024’ as it costs this much for the facility to run for one year. Our younger students have already been baking and car washing, and others are busy making plans for some exciting fundraising events later in the year, so watch this space!
It has already been a busy term with some fantastic performances in House Music and winning the Year 8 composition part of the evening – a huge well done to all of those that were involved. Our Year 7s had a great time in the New Forest on an outdoor pursuits day where they became a strong team in some challenging activities – unfortunately, some of them ended up very wet in the lake!
Finally, we are always on the look out for DAVIS DIAMONDS! A new in-house reward scheme that is given to Davis students who go above and beyond and really embrace our Barts Values. This term, tutors will be nominating tutees of the week to be a DAVIS DIAMOND. But pop into see us in the house office and tell us about your or your friends’ amazing achievements!
