Duke of Edinburgh Award

Published 9 March 2023

The DofE Programme exists to empower young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and build confidence and resilience. It is recognised and respected by employers, further education establishments and universities. St Bart’s offers students in Year 9 and above the opportunity to compete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Over the last 6 months, 66 St Bart’s students have been busy completing programmes of activities including: making a difference in the community, developing a healthy lifestyle through participation in a sport or dance activity, learning a new practical and/or social skill and taking part in overnight expeditions, in order to achieve the Volunteering, Skills, Physical and Expedition sections of their Award. The picture to the right is of Year 10’s waking up early to watch the beautiful sunrise while on their Bronze assessed expedition.
