Five Oxbridge University Offers

Five offers to study at either Cambridge or Oxford University, have been made to current Year 13 students. Students have succeeded in a rigorous entry process during an obviously difficult year in which the usual demanding tests and interviews of their College or University of choice had to take place entirely online.

From Oxford: Sophie Barrett has been offered a place to study Maths, Harry Clarkson, Medicine, Siena Hickmore, History and Matthew Morecroft plans to read Biology. Finally Tobias Allen has a place on the Engineering course at Cambridge.

Details of offers to study medicine will follow in a subsequent issue.

We are very proud of all these students, in what has been an exceptionally challenging year it is heartening to have good news like this. We offer them specialised support but mostly these offers are down to the hard work and attitude of the students. We look forward to hearing about their future successes.

As in previous years we will be holding a virtual Early Entrants’ Evening on Wednesday 28 April from 6-8pm for Y11 and Y12 students from any school who is considering an application to Oxbridge or for Medicine. Current offer-holders, and others already studying medicine and at Oxbridge, will be available to answer questions about the process and their experiences in making a successful application. The majority of Year 13 students at St Bart’s have been applying to a range of universities and higher education courses through the UCAS system for entry later this year. Over 200 applications for university have been made by students. Others are planning for gap years and have been successful in obtaining apprenticeships including in accountancy and engineering.
