U13 Football
Our U13 girls’ football team played their quarter final draw against Brackenhale School, aiming to make history as the first ever U13 St Bart’s side to reach the County Cup semi-final. From start to finish, the girls made it clear they wanted to make history, as they ended up beating Brackenhale 11-0. We got off to a fast start, scoring some early goals with Freya B, Olivia and Amy all getting on the scoresheet. Lucia also managed to get a goal before half-time to have us 6-0 up at the half-way point.
The girls got plenty of game time, rotating when needed and playing in some unfamiliar positions, so that everyone had an equal share of the game. Freya S made a smart save to keep our clean sheet intact but Brackenhale never really looked like breaching our defence of Rose, Lucia, Izzy and Poppy. In midfield, Jessie and Hattie bossed it with Isla, Freya I, Tilly and Amy running the defenders ragged on the wings. Up front, Olivia and Freya linked up well, causing all sorts of problems for the back line and the goalkeeper. Jessie and Hattie both managed to score in the second half, as well as more goals from Olivia and Amy. A fantastic team performance without Alice who was sadly unwell and will be gutted she didn’t get the chance to score even more goals! Player of the match went to Rose and we eagerly await the semi-final draw!
Year 8 County Cup
Well done to the Year 8 boys’ football team who won in the 1st round of the County Cup vs Maiden Erlegh. St Bart’s scored early on with a great delivery from Evan and finish from Tyler. St Bart’s then dominated the 1st half, having lots of chances, but were unable to double their lead. Maiden Erlegh then scored just after half time making the score 1-1. Tommy then scored a brace to make it 3-1 to St Bart’s. Maiden Erlegh then found their second of the game within the last few minutes and did try and push for an equaliser, but with some great defending St Bart’s managed to secure the win, 3-2. Well done to all involved. Player of the match was awarded to Jude who battled brilliantly in midfield in the first half, as he was first to all second balls. In the second half, Jude dropped back into centre back and provided a great defensive display marking their main goal threat of the game.
U14 Football
Well done to the U14 girls’ football team who played in the quarter final of the County Cup away against The Downs School. It was a brilliant and exciting game with both sides giving their all and playing some great football.
We were 1-0 down and then after 2 minutes, 1-1 as Eva scored for us. 1-2, Freya giving us the lead. 1-3, Alice giving a two-goal cushion.
So we made a great start, however The Downs came back at us scoring on 15, 18 and 21 minutes to have the half time lead 4-3.
In the second half we really restricted The Downs’ attacks and shots on goal and were looking the stronger team, Eva scored to make it 4-4, we really thought that the game was then going to extra time and penalties but unfortunately The Downs scored with 30 seconds to play and we lost 5-4.
Lottie B was awarded player of the match by the opposition.
Really well done, and we are proud of all the girls who played. We were the better team it was just not our day.
