The St Bart’s winning team in this year’s Make Your Mark challenge made it through to the regional final held at Royal Holloway, University of London on 26 November. Taking place during Global Entrepreneurship Week the theme for the challenge was entitled “Let local inspiration lead you to a ‘cool’ creation”. The teams were invited to come up with a new and innovative business idea that took its inspiration from something local.
The Year 10 students who went to the regional final had worked together preparing their presentation on their idea for a community run bio bus service running on bio gas produced from organic waste collected from local farms and stables. They gave an excellent performance in front of nine other teams and the panel of judges. The students were a credit to the school and were awarded Highly Commended certificates. In the spirit of an eco-friendly competition all prizes awarded were young saplings and the St Bart’s team received a hazel sapling.
