Partial Solar Eclipse

“On Thursday 10 June there was a partial solar eclipse. This is when the Moon comes in front of the Sun during its orbit. However, as this was a partial solar eclipse only part of the Sun was blocked out”

“When we went outside we saw the solar eclipse. It may have only been a small partial eclipse but it was still there. We used a telescope and a piece of white card and the shadow of the eclipse was shown on the card. It showed a slight colour and the Sun was bright. The partial eclipse was easily visible. The reason this happens is the Sun and Moon line up and they look the same size but really the Sun is 400 times bigger than the Moon.”
