Patterson Wins House Music!
The Annual House Music Competition is a big event in the St Bart’s calendar, the first that contributes towards the House Championship. Many congratulations should go to all the students who represented their Houses and particularly the sixth form House Music Captains who worked so hard in getting their performances ready.
We began the evening with the instrumental category, which included rousing renditions of ‘Cantina Band’ (Curnock), ‘The Pink Panther Theme’ (Davis), ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ (Evers) and ‘Phantom of the Opera’ (Patterson).
Year 8 took the lead in the composition class, all performing Salsa inspired pieces that they had composed themselves.
The final open choral class saw ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ performed by Curnock, ‘A Nod to Pitch Perfect’ by Davis, ‘Pompeii’ by Evers and Patterson bought us ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’.
Our 2023 adjudicator was Ashley Morris, General Manager of the Newbury Spring Festival and our thanks go to him for making the final call between some amazing performances and offering all the performers some lovely words of encouragement.
The final results were:
House Instrumental – Patterson
Year 8 Composition – Davis
House Choir – Patterson
Leadership Award – Miriam Cooper (Patterson)
Second place: Davis
Joint third: Curnock and Evers
A number of students and staff were involved in back stage tasks which were instrumental to the overall success of the night. Thank you to them. Well done to everyone involved.
