The event was held at the Mansion House, where students were seated at tables with investment fund managers responsible for funds worth billions of pounds. They were able to ask questions about the industry, entry routes, typical daily work and even how much salary can be earned. There was also a panel discussion when experts were asked about their concerns for the future in terms of risk to financial growth and their predictions for the future with regards to likely emerging economies.
Students were then presented with their winner’s trophy and the national winning team gave a presentation about the investment strategies they had used throughout the year.
Following lunch at the Mansion House we made our way to Westminster for the winners ‘treat’, a jet boat trip on the Thames. The boat took us from Westminster to Canary Wharf and back with some high speed twists and turns along the way! Despite some initial reservations the trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The students were articulate and confident in their discussions with investment fund managers and polite and friendly to everyone they met. Not only had they done very well as regional winners but they were a real credit to the school on the day.
