Sports Personality of the Year Awards

Published 20 July 2023

On Wednesday 12 July, the PE Department hosted their annual “Sports Personality of the Year” awards, with a special guest appearance from Will Joseph (Harlequins and England Rugby player). It was a fantastic evening, celebrating the success of the students and the participation across a variety of sports this academic year.

Many awards were up for grabs, including Coach’s Player of the Year, Most Improved and Players’ Player for each sport in each year group and the coveted “Sports Personality of the Year”.

Mr Sullivan hosted a Q&A with Will Joseph, questions ranging from how he found his time at St Bart’s, any advice for aspiring athletes, most famous person in his phone and finally any hidden talents – he can play the piano! Will very kindly stayed at the end to answer questions from students and take numerous photos which no doubt inspired the next generation of athletes.

Miss Bilcliff, who organised the event, said, “a massive well done to all of our students who have represented the school over the last year. We cannot wait to see what else they achieve in the future – it’s been another brilliant year watching our students grow and making us proud. We were delighted to be able to celebrate them all in one evening. A huge congratulations to all the award winners; their commitment and passion for sport has been clear to see and they are all very deserving winners.”
