St Bart’s Wins the Berkshire Active Secondary School Awards!

Students and staff at St Bart’s School are extremely proud to hear that they have won the Berkshire Active Secondary School Awards for the second year running!

“Students and staff at St Bartholomew’s dedicate their time and efforts to attain sporting excellence and participation by all students in such a wide range of activities so it’s wonderful to see this recognised in such a celebratory way.” said Ms Mortimore, Headteacher.

The award was presented and announced at the ceremony hosted by Sport Presenter Tim Dellor at the Hilton Hotel, Reading on Friday 23rd February 2018. 350 sport enthusiasts assembled at the ceremony which reflected on a fantastic year of sport and physical activity in Berkshire and local Olympic Skeet Shooter Amber Hill enthused guests with her inspirational after-dinner speech.

Student Sam Hart, from Year 12, shortlisted for the Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award, was in the top 3 nominations across the whole of Berkshire. “It was a tremendous achievement for him to be shortlisted,” said Mrs Leach. “St Bart’s takes pride in its inclusive approach to sport for all ages and genders. There are opportunities for all abilities and often our students go on to excel,” said PE teacher Lindsey Leach who nominated the school.
