Tackling Period Poverty

St Bart’s has become one of the first schools to take advantage of a new campaign in West Berkshire, giving girls easier access to sanitary protection and attempting to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. We now have a Red Box in School with sanitary products and other useful items available to girls when they need them.

The campaign was spearheaded by a local woman, Hollie Gavin, determined to increase awareness and ensure young girls don’t miss out on education when they have their period. From September free sanitary products will be available in secondary schools in England but currently the project is funded by donations. Visit https://bit.ly/2I6SaCz to find out more.
