Ten Tors 2019

The Ten Tors event took place on Dartmoor on the weekend of 11 and 12 May, with the Year 10 team facing a 35 mile challenge, entirely self sufficiently, over 2 days, and the Year 12 team taking on a route of over 45 miles.

After a day of kit checking and route planning on Friday, the teams set off at 7am on Saturday morning. The combination of warm (for Ten Tors!) weather and Dartmoor bogs lead to blisters and feet problems for one member of each team, but the remaining 5 worked together to keep going, finally camping at or after 8pm.

After pitching tents, cooking their army rations dinner and a short sleep, they ignored their blisters and sore limbs and were on the move again shortly after 6am on Sunday. Both teams completed their routes well within the time allowed on the Sunday, despite a pair of boots having to be held together with gaffer tape to do so!

Congratulations to both teams for their perseverance and commitment through both training and the event itself, an event in which only just over 2000 students from across the whole country get to participate. They can be very proud of their achievements and medals.
