ST BARTHOLOMEW’S SCHOOL, NEWBURY
STATEMENT ON THE IMPACT OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC ON UCAS APPLICANTS. 2020
As a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020, students who are applying to UCAS this Autumn experienced significant disruption to their first year of A-Levels/Level 3 study. When the school closed in March, teaching and learning was delivered remotely through a combination of live lessons and online resources, with more live lessons becoming available over time as teachers adjusted their practice. There was a return to limited face to face teaching in all subjects in June and July. Although the majority of students adapted well to these circumstances, the loss of face to face contact time with teachers was challenging. Students also missed out on planned educational trips and conferences, and there was an impact on our programme for supporting UCAS applications and preparation for aptitude tests.
