The redevelopment project reached a major milestone on Friday 29 January when the new buildings were topped out. This was a traditional ceremony which marked structural completion and involved placing oil, corn, wine and salt in the ground on the second floor of the Curnock block which helped bless the building with good luck. Students representing each year group took part in the ceremony and were among 80 guests. Mark Tant, Managing Director, Willmott Dixon welcomed everyone to the ceremony and speeches were given by Barbara Alexander, West Berkshire’s Executive Member for Children and Young People; Christina Haddrell, Headteacher; Ian Campbell, St Bart’s Chair of Governors and Paul Millard, Trustee of the school’s Charitable Foundation. This milestone brings us closer to being able to work in an innovative building fit for education in the 21st century.
