Year 10 Rugby

The Year 10 Rugby team finally had their first taste of 7s tournament Rugby at St Bart’s, playing in the highly competitive Perins 7s tournament near Winchester. Bart’s played some quality attacking Rugby right from the start, scoring some brilliant team tries with a number of offloads. However, the defence required improvement. After a few really close games in the group against Perins, Westgate and Salesians, two of which they lost by one score, they went through into the knockout rounds of the plate competition.

This was the point where the boys really started to get used to 7s Rugby and really stepped up their performance, especially on the defensive side of the ball. After dispatching Ringwood School comfortably in the semi-final, they set up a re-match with Salesians in the plate final. The boys once again showed their development throughout the day, playing their best Rugby to beat a team they lost to earlier, 35-7, to lift the trophy. Very well done to all the boys who played, who showed an excellent attitude throughout and a great desire to improve and turn the day around and bring some silverware back to Bart’s.
