The Sixth Form Open Evening was very different this year for Staff and Students alike. We were disappointed not to be able to open the doors and welcome all our prospective Year 12 students in the usual way. However the Sixth Form team were determined to make our Virtual Open Evening an exciting and informative experience, which gave students a chance to learn about life at Sixth Form and showcase our extensive portfolio of 39 Level 3 subjects.
The Open Evening website features videos from our Heads of Department, as well as thoughts from our fantastic student subject representatives. In addition, a wealth of information is provided about the St Bart’s Sixth Form experience, which is designed to promote student well-being, a critical wider understanding of the world and a solid base for the next steps to a bright future. Students were able to take a virtual tour of the school and watch information videos covering varied topics from the Extended Project Qualifications to Personalised Learning to the Extra Curricular Sport on offer.
Alongside the website the Sixth Form team held a Live Talk Event, introduced by Head Teacher, Ms Mortimore, and led by Head of Sixth Form, Ms Allen. Parents and students met the team, were able to submit questions, and listened to Ms Allen interview one of our current Sixth Form students.
Despite the challenges of a Virtual Open Evening, fun and excitement was still had and the advantage of this approach is that the website remains open for parents and students to visit as often as they wish. If you haven’t yet visited, please do. Sixth Form applications are now open and we encourage all students looking to join us in Year 12 in September 2021 to submit their application before Thursday 3 December.
