St Bartholomew’s School is part of a growing number of schools leading the way to a more school-led system of teacher training. Our training leads to a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and QTS and is accredited by Oxford Brookes University. The course lasts a year and trainees spend the majority of their time in school learning from the best practitioners and getting to know how to support students in the best possible ways.

We can provide you with support and guidance on your application and might be able to offer you school experience if you want a taster of what teaching could be like. Bursaries of up to £30,000 may be available for trainees in certain subjects including for example mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, languages, computing and geography. For further information on what becoming a teacher might involve more generally, you can visit www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching.

We currently have vacancies to start training from next September and we would be very interested to hear from you if you are thinking of becoming a teacher, or know someone who is. We’re looking for people who have (or will have) a degree, have a passion for teaching and want to inspire young people to fulfil their potential. You may even be thinking of a change in career.

If you would like further information about the exciting teacher training opportunities available, please contact Kathy Hersh at khersh@stbarts.co.uk
