Curnock House Update
Welcome back after half term from Team Curnock! Our new House Team looks a bit different this year, with Miss Forsey in place as our new House Head and Mrs Stevens as our new Progress and Achievement Leader – and both are fully immersing themselves in Curnock Life. Miss Forsey has this to say: “Curnock House has had a few changes, but between myself, Mrs Stevens and Mrs Hamblin, we have got off to a brilliant start and the three of us are looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store for us all.”
Life in school was pretty busy last term, in particular for our new Year 7’s. Not only did they enjoy their Bushcraft Adventure Day, they also had their Settling in Evening recently. Several of our students gave informative speeches to parents about their experiences so far regarding life at Bart’s, and lots gave their time to bake amazing cakes for a Bake-off style competition and fundraiser! Hayden (7C3) was our overall winner with his suitable spooky cupcakes – well done Hayden! Thanks also to our brilliant House Captains and Ambassadors who helped with this event. This cake sale raised over £150 to kick-start Curnock’s fundraising this year for our House Charity, Newbury Cancer Care, together with a recent 9C3 bake sale which raised nearly £50. We have supported this fantastic local charity for many years now, and we are currently on the home run of hitting our magic £100K target for them – watch out for more fundraisers coming soon to help us smash our goal!
Finally, good luck to all our Year 11 students with upcoming practice exams – you’ve got this! CURNOCK, YOU ROCK!
