Para Swimmer Visit

Last Thursday, British Para-Swimmer, Graham Edmunds, visited St Bart’s Sixth Form to speak to our Year 12 students about his journey, which includes competing in three Paralympic Games and winning two gold medals in World Record times. Graham, who was told he might never walk again following a motorcycle accident in 2000, began swimming as part of his physiotherapy routine. His story is one of success in the face of adversity and he spoke with students about the power of self-belief, hard work and being open to all opportunities.

Graham is the latest speaker in the Sixth Form’s Enrichment Programme, which gives students the opportunity to hear from leaders and champions about their value experience across a range of sectors.

A student said, “The talk today from Graham Edmunds was incredibly inspiring. It was moving to hear his story of how he had to learn to live his life in a whole new way and how that led him on to become a Gold-Medalist Paralympian, it really showed us how no matter what hurdles are thrown in your way you can still reach great accomplishments.”
