School Officer Selection Starts

Published 16 March 2022

Each spring, our Sixth Form open the door for a new round of School Officer applications, offering the latest Year 12 cohort the opportunity to take a prominent and leading role in shaping student life at the school. The School Officers include the Head Students supported by House Captains and Subject Representatives.

The application process for Head Students is not for the faint-hearted. Candidates must submit a written application and action plans, sell their message to peers in the student hustings and complete both group and individual interviews before the new Head Students are announced. This week thirteen students took part the 2022 student hustings and we would like to thank them for their commitment and ambition.

The School Officer roles are hugely rewarding for those students who rise the challenge. Our Officers are an example to our younger students, public-facing and the link between our Leadership Team and student body. Lead by the Head Students, we ask them to run our student council, take part in public speaking, represent student interests and organise a number of events throughout the year. In return, School Officers get a chance to make a real difference, give something back to their school and gain extremely useful leadership experience.

Examples of previous School Officer led initiatives have included Refugee Week, Pride Week, The Red Box Project, International Women’s Day, Black History Month and the redesigning the Sixth Form common room.

We look forward to announcing our new Head Students in BartholoNews soon.
