Darcy (9P2) is currently in training to swim across the English Channel in July next year to raise funds for Solent Mind, a mental health charity. She will swim in relay with five teammates from Winchester City Penguins swimming club (due to age restrictions) but the challenge, which will take place at night in temperatures of around 17 degrees is no less daunting! The girls have been undertaking early morning practices in the sea throughout autumn and have recently tried out their relay take overs from a boat. Darcy, who also swims for Newbury District Swimming Club and takes part in water polo, was inspired to give the cross-channel swim a go after an introduction to open water swimming with her coach last year.
