The Validus Dance Company was founded by Mrs Warnes, Head of Dance, to support students looking to continue their dance journey at highly competitive dance schools. The Company comprises of GCSE and A Level St Bart’s students, all of whom audition for a place. Dancers within the company explore innovative choreography and develop dance technique in various contemporary dance styles. Students also gain understanding of the dynamics of group dance and have the opportunity to build their portfolio of performances. Speaking earlier this year, ‘Working in the Company gives you the opportunity to incorporate everyone’s individual style into a performance’ – Rachel Glover (Year 12 student); ‘We get a real feel for what it’s like to work as a professional dance company and experience the audition process’ – Heinrich Engela (Year 11).
