Exciting Plans Beyond Bart’s
Last week, we reported on the Year 13 graduation celebrations, and this Year 13 has much to celebrate!
To date, 236 students have received university offers. Amongst these numbers, St Bart’s students have once again seen success in the most competitive of application routes. Three students have been made prestigious Oxbridge offers; Samuel Dickens (Asian & Middle Eastern Studies) and Takuma Burton (Natural Sciences) plan to study at the University of Cambridge, whilst Martha Fitch (Biology) has accepted an offer from the University of Oxford.
The Sixth Form is delighted that a number of students have secured healthcare related courses, including six students with sought-after placements to study medicine. Catherine Macfarlane-Smith (Kent and Medway Medical School), Daisy Haydn-Jones (University of Bristol), Elri Kotze (University of Birmingham) and Sam Denis, who graduated in 2025, (Hull York Medical School) have all accepted offers, with Swathi Sivabalan and Shreya Tripathi in the process of confirming their final choices. Rachel Saddington and Fleur Creteur have also received impressive offers in this field, with the girls respectively securing places to study Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Surrey and Pharmacy at Cardiff University.
Mrs Clare, Head of Sixth Form, said: “All students at St Bart’s considering university are supported through the experience, to make the best possible application. I am so delighted for this cohort of talented and hardworking students. Each of these applicants demonstrated exceptional determination in their applications and preparation for interview, resulting in their well-deserved success. It is a significant achievement and we are very proud of them all.”
In addition, the Sixth Form has been working hard to support the increasing number of students looking to follow an apprenticeship route. The school’s careers programme now offers workshops aimed at exploring the types of apprenticeships available, understanding what employees are looking for from candidates and supporting students with developing their applications. This investment is paying dividends, with a number of students receiving Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships, and more awaiting news on applications. Those students already planning the first steps of a new career include Bluebell Bradfield (Project Management, Deloitte), Conor McManus (Project Management, BAE), Emily Tompkins (Medical Physics), Jacob Khan (Finance & Accounting, Deloitte) and Thomas Bennett (Trading & Supply, Shell).
Many of St Bart’s Year 13 are also pursuing their dreams in the sports and arts fields, and those who have secured some of the mostly hotly-contested places include Neve Wright (Sport Management, Loughborough University), Adam Hutchinson (Sport and Exercise Science, University of Bath), Mariana Carvalho (The London Contemporary Dance School), Poppy Franklin-Wilson (Guildford School of Acting, Musical Theatre) and Hannah Lang (Arts University Bournemouth, Acting).
Mr Wilder, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, said, “This is a very exciting time of life for our Sixth Form students and it is extremely rewarding to see so many of them embracing the wide range of post-18 opportunities available, whether this be an apprenticeship, training or university. It is always a privilege to see the students grow in confidence and independence throughout their time with us, resulting in them leaving us ready for the next step in their personal journey. We celebrate each and every one of our wonderful Year 13s, and look forward to hearing about their future successes, as they become St Bart’s alumni.”
