Internal Practice Exams
We believe in the importance of giving students experience of formal exam conditions. We run a number of practice exam seasons. These take place in exam spaces, such as the Hall, with external invigilators and within JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) guidelines.
- Year 10 practice exams take place in March (over 4 days)
- Year 11 practice exams take place in November (over 7 days)
- Year 12 practice exams take place in June (over 2 days)
- Year 13 practice exams take place in January (over 4 days)
Results of these exams are reported home to parents as part of our reporting cycle.
In Years 7-9 classroom-based end of year assessments take place in the Summer Term, typically in weeks 32-35.

NEA (Non-examination Assessment) Internal Appeal of Marks
Some qualifications contain components of non-examination assessment (coursework) which are internally assessed (marked) by St Bartholomew’s School and internally reviewed/standardised. The marks awarded are then submitted by the deadline set by the awarding body for external moderation.

Post Results Information
Following the issue of results, awarding bodies make post-results services available. If teaching staff at St Bartholomew’s School, a candidate or their parent/carer have a concern that a result may not be accurate, post-results services may be considered.
During the summer term, prior to the issue of results, information will be posted here on how post-results services will be managed at St Bartholomew’s School including:
- Access to Scripts
- Review of Marking
- When staff will be available/accessible after the publication of results to discuss post-result services
