Student Wellbeing
Good mental health and wellbeing is so important. Students need to feel safe, calm and confident in order to fully participate in their learning and fulfil their potential.
Support in School
If students are concerned about their wellbeing and/or are struggling with their mental health, St Bart’s has a number of options for targeted support. The following staff are available to work closely with students and their families to find solutions, strategies or further advice:
- Miss Thorne, Assistant Headteacher and Senior Mental Health Lead, who works closely with the West Berkshire Mental Health Support Team (MHST)
- Miss Miles, Pastoral Support Worker
- Miss Hemmings, Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)
- Our school nurse who comes in fortnightly on a Wednesday to meet students and host a drop-in service at activity time in P033
- Our Educational Psychologist, Cate Wilkes
External Agencies
St Bart’s also benefits from working in partnership with a number of specialist mental health services including:

Who should you talk to?
If you are a student and feel worried about anything please do speak to your House Office, your tutor or a teacher. You can also use the ‘Tell Someone’ tile on your RMUnify page to let us know how you are feeling.
If you are a family member worried about your young person please do contact your student’s House Office or, alternatively, you can contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mr Bastable on dsl@stbarts.co.uk
All referrals via House Offices and/or our Safeguarding team will be given the best support route to meet their specific needs.
