Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) Paramedic
Aidan O’Neill
Aidan attended St. Bart’s from 2010-2017 and and in Sixth Form studied Biology, Geography and Mathematics. He was Deputy Head Boy from 2016-2017, during which time Aidan ran a First Aid Club for Sixth Formers and helped to install the defibrillator that is now in the Foyer at St Bart’s. Aidan also provided defibrillator and CPR awareness courses to the teachers, students and wider community. He was also a British Red Cross first aider, providing first aid cover to school events. After leaving St Bart’s Aidan studied BSc Paramedic Practice at The University of Brighton.
It is perhaps no surprise then that Aidan is now a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) Paramedic for South Central Ambulance Service. The role involves responding to people; exposed to chemicals, in water, in irrespirable atmospheres, at height, in confined space, mass casualty and marauding terrorist attacks. Prior to this Aidan worked as a Paramedic for 3 years in Newbury.
Aidan has volunteered with the Scout Association since he was 14 and now runs the 4th Newbury Scout Group, with almost all his scouts attending St Bart’s! He says the key thing he loves about scouting is providing to young people with confidence, adventure and team work.
