GCSE Results Day – Thursday 21 August 2025
Students and/or their parents can come to the school gym to collect their results in person between 8.45am and 10.00am on Thursday 21 August. All students, regardless of whether they come in that morning, will have their results sent to their school email address from 10.00am.
Staff, including our careers adviser, will be available to meet with individual students and their parents immediately after receipt of results without appointments (08.45am – 12.00pm) in the Wormestall Conference Centre at the front of school. More information for students who have applied to the Sixth Form will be sent out before the end of this term.
Internal Practice Exams
We believe in the importance of giving students experience of formal exam conditions. We run a number of practice exam seasons. These take place in exam spaces, such as the Hall, with external invigilators and within JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) guidelines.
- Year 10 practice exams take place in March (over 4 days)
- Year 11 practice exams take place in November (over 7 days)
- Year 12 practice exams take place in June (over 2 days)
- Year 13 practice exams take place in January (over 4 days)
Results of these exams are reported home to parents as part of our reporting cycle.
In Years 7-9 classroom-based end of year assessments take place in the Summer Term, typically in weeks 32-35.
Joint Council for Qualifications – Information for Candidates booklets
Candidates should familiarise themselves with the following JCQ documents, which outline some important exam do’s and don’ts.

Certificates Collection
If students are still to collect exam certificates please find below further information on how to do so:
Student attended St Bart’s in Year 11 and is currently in Sixth Form
Students are able to come to reception during break or lunchtime and ask for a member of the Exams office.
Student attended St Bart’s in Year 11/13 and is no longer at St Bart’s
Students should email exams@stbarts.co.uk to arrange a date and time for collection.
Students can also nominate another person to collect their certificates on their behalf by sending an authorisation email to exams@stbarts.co.uk. Please include the contact details of the person authorised to collect the certificates, as the Exams office will then contact the authorised person to arrange a collection appointment.
Collecting a certificate following a grade remark?
Please note that we are still awaiting delivery of a significant number of certificates following remarks. Students will be contacted directly once these are received.
Student did not attend St Bart’s in Year 11
GCSE certificates are sent to the school where students sat their exams. Families are requested to contact the student’s previous school directly to arrange a collection.
NEA (Non-examination Assessment) Internal Appeal of Marks
Some qualifications contain components of non-examination assessment (coursework) which are internally assessed (marked) by St Bartholomew’s School and internally reviewed/standardised. The marks awarded are then submitted by the deadline set by the awarding body for external moderation.

Post Results Information
Following the issue of results, awarding bodies make post-results services available. If teaching staff at St Bartholomew’s School, a candidate or their parent/carer have a concern that a result may not be accurate, post-results services may be considered.
Access to Scripts
- Students can request access to their own scripts. Students need to complete this brief online form (only after receiving their results). There is no charge attached to this. Students are required to complete this form while logged into their school google account rather than their personal google account. This is for security reasons to ensure that the student identified is making the request.
- Following completion of this form, the link to a script will be made available within 20 working days and will be sent to the student’s school email address only.
The deadline for submission of requests for Access to Scripts: GCSE and A Level: noon 12 September 2025
Review of Marking
JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) guidance stipulates that ‘for internal candidates, awarding bodies will only accept requests for reviews of marking from centres and not from candidates or their parents.’
In line with JCQ guidelines, we have reviewed our protocols. To process any requests the school needs to secure both consent and payment from students. While consent is sought from students, it is the school that ultimately determines whether a request will be processed. Our procedure for this is as follows:
Using information from Heads of Faculties and Heads of Departments, the school will make contact with students who are within 3 marks of a higher grade to encourage them to consider requesting a review of marking. This communication will include a link to both an Access to Scripts form and a Review of Marking form, as well as advice on contacting staff members. In this circumstance, the decision on whether or not to proceed is the students. These communications will be sent out centrally to students’ email addresses (copying in parents) from the school by 19 August (A Level) and 26 August (GCSE). Parents and students are urged to wait for these deadlines before contacting the school to explore options for review of marking.
Students who need to review a marking more urgently to try to secure a pending university place, should not wait for information and proceed with a Priority Service Review of Marking. Guidance on UCAS and/or Sixth Form applications can be addressed through the drop-in clinics that have been promoted by the Sixth Form in end of term letters.
A full outline of our approach, including relevant links, is available on this infographic. Students who are not contacted by the school should refer to the infographic for guidance.
Grade boundaries will be published by exam boards on their website alongside the release of results in August. Parents and students are urged to engage with these directly rather than contact school for this information. We will be prioritising communication with those identified as being within 3 of higher grade boundaries.
