Curnock are 2026 House Champions!
Yesterday, in whole school assembly, students waited to hear the results of last year’s House Championship. Our Houses have a fantastic history stretching back over 100 years and this decades’ old competition is an integral part of it.
At the end of the Summer Term, Dr Fitter announced the winning House for four of the five components that make up the House Championship. The Sports Shield was won by Curnock, the Arts and Enrichment Shield was won by Curnock, the Citizenship Shield was won by Patterson and the Sixth Form Cup was won by Davis.
However, the placings in the Academic Shield can only be determined once the exam results are in during the summer break. Congratulations to Davis whose students were triumphant.
With Curnock and Davis tied on points and both achieving two component shields, victory was decided by the number of second places each House had achieved. This is the tightest competition anyone can remember in recent years!
These placings meant that Curnock House is the well-deserved winner for the first time since 2019/20!

House Head for Curnock, Mr Bandy said, “What a fantastic way to start the new academic year – winning the House Championship. I am very proud of every single member of Curnock team – students, staff and parents – for their hard work and devotion to our House! We go again this year to retain the title!”
The scores have been re-set and the race is already well under way with Year 7 earning House points during Summer School. Good luck everyone!
House Points
House Points are a key part of our school reward system and the final House Point totals count towards the overall winner of the Academic Shield. We encourage all students to get involved in House competitions, and to start collecting House Points through demonstrating school values and engagement in their lessons.
Last year, those students who achieved more than 250 points over the academic year, were rewarded with an end of term treat. This involved an afternoon off lessons to socialise, and enjoy inflatables, outdoor games and lollies! Congratulations to the 51 students who achieved this milestone – it is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates outstanding involvement in school life.
This year, the end of term treat for the highest ranking students will be a trip to Thorpe Park! We look forward to seeing how the House Championship progresses this academic year. Who will be House Champions 26/27? It’s all to play for!
