U13 County Cup Final
On Wednesday 9 September, at long last, our U13 (now U14) girls finally got to play Kennet School in the U13 County Cup final. This was postponed at the end of last year, due to the hot weather. However a new year and much cooler temperatures allowed us to finally get it played! Some of our girls were out for revenge as Kennet beat us in the County Cup final last year.
It was a fast start from our girls, with Mia giving us the lead inside 9 minutes. She then scored a second goal shortly after, putting us in a comfortable 2-0 position. We made use of our strong bench, bringing on Scarlett, Izzy, Jasmine and Dara, with Scarlett scoring our third goal just before half-time.
In the second half, we faced wave after wave of attack but we just couldn’t find our goalscoring boots, only scoring once thanks to an own goal following a quick release from Freya in goal and an excellent cross from Amy. This was an absolute masterclass of a performance from everyone involved, especially at the back, captained and expertly marshalled by Lucia, with Freya, Molly, Karaleia and Izzy all contributing to a clean sheet – actually limiting Kennet to ZERO shots the entire game!
Dara came on in the middle, putting in her best performance in St Bart’s colours, alongside Maisie who ran the entire game from CM, earning her player of the match from the opposition. Tilly worked tirelessly down the right, Amy driving us on the left, causing havoc all game long, with Flo, Mia, Scarlett and Jasmine all contributing in attack, creating plenty of chances and pressing from the front. A brilliant win from the girls, who never really got out of 2nd gear and could have been so much more in terms of goals. Well done to all the girls, let’s hope we can retain it next year!
