Christmas Creative Writing and Book Grotto
Congratulations to the winners and runners-up of our whole-school Christmas Writing Competition who received Amazon vouchers for their creative efforts. Well done to Harriet (7E2), Liv (7P1) Gauravi (9C1), Abigail (8P3), Tabitha (10P2), Bella (12D1) and Paige (8C2) not pictured. The task was to write an alternative story or poem that continues the famous lines “Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house” and the entries were judged by a panel of sixth-form literature enthusiasts.
Readings from some of the writers’ work preceded the exchanging of presents in our first Jolabokaflod, inspired by the Icelandic tradition of book-giving on Christmas Eve, in which some 60 students took part. Huge thanks to Mrs Hewetson and Mrs Kirby in the Library for co-ordinating everything and establishing our Christmas book grotto!
It’s been a great term for avid readers at St Bart’s and our Patron of Reading, Peter J Murray, has written us a letter with a little puzzle to think about! Read it on here.
